Collaring the Juniper Woodlands are Arizona's 3 great national forests - Coconino to the east, Kaibab to the north and west and the Prescott to the south. Nature Surrounds SubdivisionThe Juniperwood Ranches, secluded and nestled west of Ash Fork, is bordered immediately to the east by Fitzgerald Hill and distantly by Hearst Mountain. Horseshoeing around the subdivision is the Kaibab National Forest. The Kaibab Forest, noted for bordering both north and south rims of the Grand Canyon and its tributary canyons of the Colorado River, is easily accessible by any of 3 forest roads offering spectacular drives into the exquisite forest. Upon entering the forest, Eagle Nest Mountain, wondrous for exploration and trailblazing, is an immediate view to the northwest. Horse Trap Mesa, known for its bountiful wildlife and exhilarating hiking paths, lends stately countenance to a western sky lit with scheming colors. Still further, one views with candid awe the darkened silhouette of Floyd Mountain, the creation of an extinct volcano.
